In today’s digital and disruptive world, businesses are increasingly compelled to reinvent and transform themselves. Singapore has to look at both the challenges and opportunities of shifting from a value-adding to a value-creating economy. Technology, innovation and entrepreneurship will be key to our success.
In response to Singapore’s aspiration to adopt this growth path and the Future Economy Report, The EDB Society together with Singapore Management University have initiated the ENTERPRISE & ENTREPRENEUR SERIES, supported by the Economic Development Board. Its 6 forums tap on the experiences of the founders and trailblazers behind our corporations, SMEs and start-ups.
The title of the Series is Transforming Industries • Creating Value. It aims to:
· Celebrate inspiring entrepreneurs and industry leaders, and draws insights on how they respond to old, new and disruptive forces
· Explore megatrends and growth themes, and how Singapore should exploit these new opportunities
· Build a platform for sharing, learning and networking.
This initiative was launched on 31 January 2018 by Mr Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Finance. It set the scene on Singapore’s changing landscape and our responses to global disruptions. The second forum discussed Digital Business Platforms that are dramatically changing the dynamics of competition in business. The third forum discussed how Advanced Manufacturing and Urban Solutions are pushing frontiers in Singapore’s city-state environment. The fourth forum discussed Ageing and the Business of Living Longer and Well. The fifth forum discussed Food and AgriTech – Innovations and New Opportunities.
The culminating forum will discuss the growth theme of Entrepreneurship - Singapore & Beyond. It will examine the future landscape, global challenges, factors of renewal and transformation that enterprises and entrepreneurs will face; and how they can creatively exploit technology, capital, innovations, and collaboration models.
